Betz Thoroughbreds, owned by Bill Betz, is located in Lexington, Kentucky. Bill, born in Pennsylvania grew up with horses. After attending Notre Dame, he worked for Lee Eaton, a breeder, and Dr. William McGee of Hagyard Equine Medical Institute. He eventually bought Dr. McGee's property, which is now Betz Thoroughbreds. Stretching across almost 300 acres, Betz's Farm is home to dozens of broodmares - including the granddam (horse lingo for grandmother) of Mine That Bird, who Bill bred and won the Kentucky Derby in 2009.
